  • First things first, is your cover page which should include the following:

  • Running Head: A running head is an abbreviated title and should be a max of 50 characters. It should be flush left in all uppercase letters at the top of the title page and all major pages. On the title page it should be followed by the words “Running Head:”

  • Next is a Copyright page.
  • Your copyright page needs to be accurate and put into the correct format. Usually you can find the copyright information on one of the first pages of the book or at the bottom of an online page.

  • Before your introduction include an Abstract!
  • An abstract should briefly summarize your research topic and range between 150 and 250 words. Make sure it is interesting!

  • Now make sure that your page layout is correct.
  • Each page needs to have Page numbers. Make sure the numbers are centered and are at the bottom of the page.

  • Your paper also should include quotes.
  • Do not directly quote but instead try to use paraphrasing, Also, whenever possible, avoid lengthy quotes. You are not rewriting someone else's work. Do not use quotation marks to enclose block quotations. Rather, indent and single space the block quote.

  • Make sure that your paper stands out by including tables and images.
  • Your tables should be brief and very easy to understand. Above each give an explanatory title. Any additional side-note may be added below, but only add information that is on topic.

  • Lastly, be sure to include a reference page.
  • Begin your reference list following the last page of your paper. Your list should be centered at the top of the page. Each reference should be arranged alphabetically by the author’s last name.
