Creating A Perfect Dissertation Title Page: Points To Consider

Writing a simple essay can be a daunting task, but writing a dissertation is a real challenge. A scholar wants to look good in the eyes of their tutor and just a slight mistake might be embarrassing and might lead to negative points. The beginning of every paper work is the PhD title page. It gives the main idea of who you are and what you did. Here are some basic things you should consider when writing your dissertation title page.

Find a template

It is important to see how a title page should look like. Therefore, you should either ask your tutor to give you a sample title page or the other students. You will not make a mistake if you follow a particular template. Not all of the universities have the same title pages for papers and be careful to get the right one not an outdated one. Universities rarely make changes in their thesis title page, but they do make sometimes.

Content

There is a specific template for the content of the title page that should be followed. However, it might be in different order, but it is more or less the same.

  • The title – The title should always be less than 240 characters, spaces included.

  • Your name – You write your name with a “by” above it to let the reader know that it is by you.

  • Degree – Below the name you write the degree that you are earning with that paper, for instance Ph.D.

  • Previously awarded degrees and institutions where you gained those degrees – First comes the degree, than the institution and the year when you gained that degree.

  • Previously set text – Below comes a text that is always used for Ph.D. title pages and goes as it follows: “A Dissertation Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirement for the…” and continues with the degree that is going to be rewarded with that paper.

  • The name of the institution – Finally the name of the institution where this degree is gained follows as it is.

Sometimes, the title page includes the dissertation table of contents, but not always.

Formatting

This is important part of every paper work. A title page is written with the same font as the whole paper. The margins are all 1`` , top, bottom, left and right. The text on the title page is always centered. Another important thing to remember is to avoid grammatical and spelling mistakes on the front page.

Of course, a title page is only one page of the whole paper, but it is a front page and you have to make it likable to the reader.
